As Director of Human Resources, Matthew Smeaton is responsible for all aspects of human resource management at Nutrition International. Overseeing employees at the head office in Ottawa, and at regional offices around the world, he ensures that policies, programs and practices are implemented to keep the organization functioning at the highest possible level.
Matthew has over 17 years of experience in strategic human resources management. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his extensive work in both the private and non-profit sectors. His previous roles have given him the opportunity to work with local and international teams, developing global practices as well as site-specific programs. He is adept at all facets of HR management at the strategic and tactical level.
At Nutrition International, Matthew is focused on driving effectiveness and growth. Working with the Executive Management Committee, he has updated and revised a suite of practices to support the organization through a transitional period as it expands its reach and capabilities.
Matthew has completed certification programs in Strategic Human Resources and Change Leadership at Cornell University and is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Organizational Behavior at Harvard University. He also holds a degree in Human Resources and Labour Relations from Athabasca University.
Prior to joining Nutrition International, Matthew served as the Senior Manager, Human Resources at the Ottawa Mission, and in various senior HR roles in the technology sector.
