Sucharita Dutta

As the Country Director for Nutrition International India, Sucharita Dutta  is responsible for the overall management of Nutrition International India programs, including project development, finances, donor relations, and human resources, together with managing a team of 18 core staff and 60 consultants.

Sucharita, who has worked at Nutrition International since 2009, brings more than 20 years of experience in managing large-scale public health and nutrition programs. She has expertise in program monitoring, partnership management and financial management, as well as managing high level events.

Sucharita has a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development from Xavier’s Institute of Social Service in Ranchi, India. She completed her Masters in Population Studies, and has a diploma in HIV/AIDS and Family Life Education from the Indira Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi, India. She has received training on Technical and Managerial Aspects for Management of Children with Severe Acute Malnutrition at the Indian Institute of Public Health in Delhi. She was also trained on Infant and Young Child Feeding by the Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India.

Sucharita began her career in 1993 as a Social Scientist with PSU Foundation, working in Uttar Pradesh and with the World Bank in West Bengal on programs dedicated to safe drinking water, health and hygiene. For the next six years, she worked as a Project Coordinator in the private sector at the State Innovations in Family Planning Services Project Agency in Lucknow, India. Her accomplishments there included supporting the strategy formulation for reproductive health, especially concerning family planning programs, in Uttar Pradesh.

In 2004, she was at CARE as a Regional Manager, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, leading the large scale Reproductive and Child Health, Nutrition and AIDS program, across eight states in India. As the State Programme Representative for CARE West Bengal, she oversaw the Integrated Nutrition and Health Program.

Sucharita was the Executive Director of the MII Trust for two and a half years and managed MII programs, finances, human resources, administration and regular reporting to the MII Board of Trustees prior to joining Nutrition International.
