Dr. Angelina Aduke Toluhi
Angelina Aduke Toluhi is the Program Director for Nutrition International in Nigeria. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing Nutrition International’s operational activities in Nigeria, including providing leadership, efficient management of resources and oversight of programs to ensure they are aligned with both Nutrition International’s and the Government of Nigeria’s strategic nutrition priorities.
Angie joined Nutrition International’s Nigeria Office in 2015 as the Senior Program Officer for maternal and child health and nutrition. In this role, she worked with partners to implement programs focused on improving the health of pregnant women as well as reducing childhood mortality, specifically around diarrhea treatment, and worked collaboratively to develop new programs that provide integrated micronutrients – a bundle of micronutrient interventions – to pregnant women and children.
A Public Health Physician with over eleven years’ experience, Angie has significant experience in technical and program management of health projects, including health systems strengthening; Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) and HIV care, support and treatment; public health promotion; and health education.
Previous to joining Nutrition International, Angie was at Prohealth International as the Senior Program Manager/Health System Strengthening Advisor on the IPSAN project. Angie had previously been employed at Prohealth in 2007 to head the Abuja Regional Office. She left to advance her experience in other organizations, including Technical PMTCT Lead for the Vanderbilt University’s Nigeria project (‘Friends in Global Health’); Program Manager at the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Senior Program Manager for the SEEDS project at the Center for Clinical Care and Clinical Research Nigeria (CCCRN), where she managed HIV care in over 600 facilities in South Eastern Nigeria. In addition, Angie has consulted in the areas of project evaluation and HIV program management.
Angie obtained her medical degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria and her Masters in Public Health from the University of Manchester, UK. She holds a variety of certifications including for Public Health Professional (CPH) by the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE), USA; Project Management Professional (PMP), Health Systems Strengthening, Results Based Financing (World Bank) and Development Project Management.
