The purpose of this simulation was to study the impact of calcium supplementation during pregnancy to prevent pre-eclampsia.
Single cross-sectional 24 h dietary recall data were used for the simulation using IMAPP software.
Supplementation at the level of 1g/d would reach the requirement to prevent pre-eclampsia without exceeding the upper intake level. The minimum supplementation still needs to be determined.
