Overview

The objectives of this study were to determine utilization of antenatal care (ANC) and adherence to recommended iron-folic acid (IFA) supplementation by pregnant women in two rural health districts of Zinder, Niger.

A community-based cross sectional survey of 923 pregnant women was carried out over a continuous enrollment schedule of 12 months, to account for seasonal variation.

The results of this study demonstrated low coverage of ANC and IFA in the two health districts. An analysis of the factors associated with this low coverage is described in this paper.
