Overview

Iodine deficiency disorders (IDDs) cause a spectrum of negative health and cognitive developmental outcomes. Investing in universal salt iodization (USI) has been, and continues to be, the best intervention for the control and prevention of IDDs. This knowledge brief aims to provide evidence that supports the need for investment in USI in countries where iodine deficiency continues to be a public health issue to ensure that children can reach their full human capital potential.
