Girma Mamo is Nutrition International’s Deputy Country Director for Ethiopia. In this role, he directs program development and implementation, oversees monitoring and evaluation, manages program finances, and provides strategic direction to the programs team in the Ethiopia office.
With over 20 years of experience in development and systems-strengthening in Ethiopia, Girma is an accomplished public health professional with a proven track record of designing, directing and advocating for successful health and nutrition programs. Since 2010, he has been actively involved in shaping Ethiopia’s National Nutrition Program. His contributions span policy, planning, guideline development, capacity building and overseeing the scale up of nutrition programs, particularly for adolescent girls, women and children. Girma has also been involved in several applied research projects, evidence-informed programs and policy advocacy initiatives within the development sector.
Prior to assuming this role, Girma held various positions at Nutrition International starting in 2010 as a Program Officer and later becoming Deputy Country Director in 2018. He holds a master’s degree in economics from Indra Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi, India and a master’s degree in public health from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. Girma is a PhD candidate in Community Nutrition at Addis Ababa University.
