As the Vice-President of Operations at Nutrition International, Ann Witteveen works with the technical team and field staff to direct a global portfolio of programs in Asia and Africa aimed at securing lifelong and sustainable improvements in health and nutrition for women, adolescent girls and their families.
Ann’s expertise in nutrition and food security is rooted in field experience from diverse postings such as in Sudan, managing nutrition centres during the famine of 1998, in Zimbabwe where she led a drought response for farmers in 2003 and as Oxfam’s Country Director in Zambia (from 2007-2010) where poverty, gender inequality and inadequate water and sanitation contribute to high levels of chronic malnutrition. Prior to joining Nutrition International, Ann led Oxfam Canada’s global humanitarian efforts with a focus on the impact of gender in emergencies and supporting a feminist approach to humanitarian response.
Ann has a bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry and a Master’s degree in International Development.
