Asfia Azim is Nutrition International’s Deputy Country Director for Bangladesh. In this role, she leads program coordination, grant and donor management, reporting, external engagement, and team leadership in the Bangladesh country office.

With over two decades of experience in nutrition, health and food security, Asfia has worked alongside several UN agencies as well as national and international NGOs, including BRAC, Action Against Hunger, Concern Worldwide and Plan International. Her career reflects a strong commitment to improving public health and advancing nutrition outcomes across diverse populations.

Prior to joining Nutrition International, Asfia held a range of leadership and advisory roles, including Nutrition Advisor, Emergency Nutrition Officer, Project Manager and Project Coordinator. She has led programs with a strong emphasis on financial planning, donor compliance and strategic management. Her work spans major donors such as Irish Aid, the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations, the Central Emergency Response Fund, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Global Affairs Canada. Asfia has also played an active role in identifying and securing new funding opportunities.

Asfia holds both a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s of Science in Food and Nutrition from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh. She further enhanced her global expertise by obtaining a Master’s in Public Health from Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg in Germany.

A strong advocate for civil society engagement, Asfia was elected by the Executive Board of the Civil Society Alliance (CSA) where she led the CSA Secretariat for the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement in Bangladesh for more than four years.
