“Don’t go into the kitchen, don’t take a shower, don’t go to temple to pray.”
Menstruation misconceptions can lead to adolescent girls missing out on important daily activities, including attending school. But education on menstrual health offers an opportunity – for girls to not only live life freely while on their periods, but also to better understand their growth, development and the nutritional needs of their bodies.
As part of our adolescent nutrition program, Nutrition International supported a menstrual health management project in Chandauli district in Uttar Pradesh, India in partnership with the state government. See the difference this program is making in the lives of students and their families.
