Overview

This article reviews the global picture of preconception nutrition in women and girls, including some of the key factors that influence women’s outcomes, as well as their children’s outcomes, if they do become pregnant. This article describes the current global guidelines on preconceptional nutrition interventions for girls and women; highlights related gaps in evidence, guidelines, and policy; and discusses research to forward the agenda of improving women’s and girls’ preconceptional nutrition.
