Overview

This program brief details the state of malnutrition in Pakistan and the role of food fortification in improving the nutritional status of the population. It also outlines how FFP will provide support to both government and industry to scale up fortification in the country.

This document was produced as part of the Food Fortification Programme (FFP) in Pakistan, which ended in 2021. In collaboration with Mott MacDonald and funded with UK aid from the UK government, Nutrition International implemented a large-scale food fortification program in Pakistan to fortify wheat flour and edible oil. Building on the work of FFP and with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Nutrition International has launched the Digitizing Pakistan’s Oil Fortification Program to institutionalize and sustain the gains of FFP, improving quality assurance and quality control measures to ensure availability of adequately fortified oil with vitamins A and D.
