For each country and sub-region, this report details the production, trade, consumption and regulatory environments of six fortifiable foods (wheat flours, maize flours, rice, edible vegetable oils, sugar, and salt). In addition, the epidemiology of micronutrient deficiencies in each region is presented. This information is used to identify concrete recommendations for action, representing a regional food fortification plan for addressing the most pressing micronutrient deficiencies of the Latin American and Caribbean region.
